What makes a valid GST invoice in India
A GST tax invoice needs your business name, address and GSTIN, a unique invoice number and date, the customer's details (and GSTIN for B2B), each item with HSN/SAC code, quantity, rate and taxable value, the GST rate and amount, and the total in figures and words.
This tool fills all of that in automatically — you just enter the items. For a same-state sale it splits tax into CGST + SGST; tick "inter-state" and it switches to IGST.
CGST + SGST vs IGST — which applies?
If the customer is in the same state as your business, the GST is split equally into CGST and SGST. If they are in a different state, the whole tax is charged as IGST. The total tax is the same either way — only the split changes.
Not registered for GST yet? You can still use this to make a clean bill — just set the GST rate to 0 and remove the GSTIN.
